Puppets for Peace

The Scripts

We offer three different plays for different age groups.

*  "
Three's a Picnic", for Kindergarten and Grade 1, teaches about respect and being a friend.

* "
Lisasaurus Rex" educates children about different types of bullying and introduces the Footsteps, (Bully-Proofing strategies for when they are being bullied), encouraging children to practice and use them.

* "Birds of a Feather" , strongly linked to the citizenship component of the new Grade 5,6 Social Studies curriculum, includes a bullying situation. It focuses on students deciding to take positive action about the situation and discovering that real people are making the world of difference in many places .

Script Sources:
Our puppets and basic scripts for Three's a Picnic and Lisasaurus Rex have been bought from the Friends and Neighbours club (FAN) in Ontario. This is a community based educational group who provide puppet programs to teach children a number of social skills. The program is written with the research assistance of child psychologists, social workers, youth workers, play therapists, teachers and parents. Birds of a Feather is a newly commissioned play written by Calgary writer, presenter,editor Carolyn Pogue, and uses five new puppets. Editing, feedback and previews were contributed by teachers, authors, and the Puppets for Peace puppeteers and Steering Committee.
